Gastric Injection Procedure

Gastric injection can be defined as a diet support method. Botox injection is applied to certain points in the stomach with the endoscopic method. It is a minimally invasive procedure. It is a very comfortable method because it causes no pain during and after the procedure since it is applied under sedation. The patient must be kept under observation for approximately 2 hours after treatment. Then the patients can return to their work and daily activities.

Who is a good candidate for gastric injection?

Although the treatment can be applied at any weight and can be repeated, the amount of weight loss varies according to the diet and exercise. For this reason, excessive weight loss should not be expected in overweight patients. Patients who can develop and maintain a lifestyle that includes diet and exercise are suitable for gastric injection.

Post-treatment Process

Gastric injection causes the food to stay in the stomach longer, as it reduces the movements in stomach. This causes to feel full earlier and get hungry later. It causes weight loss as it reduces food intake. Its effect lasts 6 months and can be repeated when necessary.

What are the disadvantages of gastric injection?

This method, which causes to feel full earlier and get hungry later, is not a method that decreases the stomach volume. Therefore, although it causes the reduce in feeling of fullness, it does not prevent food intake. It is essential to follow a diet plan for effective weight loss.

Another disadvantage of this method is that it is only effective temporarily. Although it can be repeated, it should be noted that to achieve and maintain the desired weight, the patient should follow a diet plan and the diet plan should be maintained after the effect of botox has disappeared after 6 months. Otherwise, weight gain is possible again. Continuing to eat despite being full and not following the diet and exercise plan will cause insufficient weight loss.
